BACKGROUND INFORMATION REGARDING FARONICS CORE AND PRODUCT LOADINS
========================================================================================
Faronics Core supports the monitoring and management of multiple workstations from a central location. It acts as a central database repository for reporting, communication, and product control.

While Faronics Core implements basic functionality shared across multiple products, its primary role is to serve as a common platform for the management of other Faronics products.

The basic functionality of Faronics Core is extended by installing product Loadins. Loadins extend Core functionality with new, product-specific status, actions, and reports. A product Loadin is a software library that adds new product-specific functionality to Faronics Core.

Product Loadins are installed only at Faronics Core. The Loadin allows Faronics Core to manage the workstation component installed on the various workstations.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
========================================================================================
This document is not a substitute for Faronics Core user guide.

1. Faronics Core must be installed before a Faronics product Loadin is installed. Attempting to install a product Loadin on a computer without Faronics Core installed will generate an error message indicating this.

2. Once Faronics Core is installed, the Core Agent Installer must be created from within Faronics Core.

3. Install the Core Agent on to the client workstations that it is desired to deploy a Faronics product onto. The Workstation Agent allows Faronics Core to communicate with the workstation and therefore to deploy a Faronics product to the workstation. Refer to the Faronics Core user guide for deployment options.

4. Run the product Loadin installer on the computer that is hosting Faronics Core.

5. Configure and deploy the product onto the desired workstations from Faronics Core.

FARONICS CORE REQUIREMENTS
========================================================================================
The following components are required to be installed on the computer that will be hosting Faronics Core:

1. .NET 3.5 SP1
2. MMC 3.0
3. Microsoft SQL Server 2005 SP2 or Express or Microsoft SQL Server 2008 SP1

All components are freely downloadable from Microsoft, but are not redistributable by Faronics. However, the Faronics Core installer will detect which of the components are not installed and will automatically download and install each component.

If you are currently running Microsoft Windows Vista or higher, you will not be required to install .NET or MMC as they are already included with the operating system.

Note: Faronics Core Agent is only compatible with Deep Freeze 7.0 or higher. If you are running an older version of Deep Freeze on the workstation, upgrade to Deep Freeze 7.0 or higher before upgrading the Core Agent. For more information, refer to the Faronics Core User Guide available at www.faronics.com/library.
